The nicest day of 2011

I am so glad I was scheduled to work from home today. Just the freedom to walk down my street, spend time on my deck, and sit down with the widows opened was not to be missed on the nicest day of the year.

Capped it off with a solid time in the city and my first real drive with my car.

2011, you are giving me hope.

Start Of A New

End Of An Era

Longer than college. Longer than high school. More years than I spent at any grade school. I bought my car the day after my sophomore year of H.S. Aka the first day of summer.

It has been over six and a half years since then and it's hard to call it "just a car" and move on.

They are whole-saling it so there won't be any spotting it on the road. I left behind high school, college, road trips, and thousands of memories with countless friends (many of them have fallen asleep accidentally in the back seat at least once). I know how excited I am about the future and my new car. But today, I can't help thinking about the piece of my life, possibly my last connection to my childhood years, now officially embarking into an adult life with a big decision and my first new car.

The Unexpected.

Today's game plan was Scion and Nissan. After Nissan failed, due to an off the cuff remark about size similarity, we headed to the MINI dealer to check out the the Cooper. Suddenly, the tC is in a distant last with a very difficult tie between the MINI and the CRZ. Reviews and driving tests have only confirmed that a lot comes to preference and on most levels they are a tie. So, there is no easy way to decide anything here. Either way, I am excited about what I have to choose from!

Car Shopping Day 1

Checked out the Honda CR-Z tonight. Also test drove a Civic. Tomorrow is Scion for the tC and maybe Nissan for the juke. This will be a lot to consider.

Presentation Day

I always get amazingly thirsty when I start giving a talk. Today was rough because I could not find my water in the dark. Turns out it was behind the laptop. Drat.

Midday Train

What a dfference a few hours makes. Took an early train today due to feeling a bit off. Almost post-apoc, the public trans system is oddly quiet. It's been a while since I was on the road midday, midweek.

Philly Auto Show '11

Today was intended to be just for fun but somehow became a great eye opener into my next car. No, not the R8 Spyder seen below and going for over $170,000.

I am looking at four cars. The Ford Focus, the Scion tC, the Nissan Juke, and the Honda CR-Z.

Something About Ice

A sheet of ice over the snow right at twilight leaves a really cool glow to things. I can't capture it on my phone the way I see it but it's really interesting.

After discontinuing my reimbursements 2 months ago, Trion has started to follow through on the money they owe me.
