eve

this time last year i was heading over to the borgata to celebrate a sober 21st birthday. i won nothing - lost a good chunk of my birthday money actually.

this year is looking to be more profitable - ill be working half of my birthday and i had everyone just give me cash so i could get a stereo. (nothing to gamble away this way)

heading to the beach after work tomorrow. might be a bit more difficult to do the typical tasks i do having jammed/bruised my hand on my door (no sympathy requested it was really stupid of me)

ah well...today was pretty nice

breadcrumbs

so i thought itd be a good idea, and maybe that's relative, to try something with this blog in addition to my regular updates. maybe this is for me, maybe its for both of us but i thought about this as kind of a development from some other blogs i check regularly.

the idea is to try to, if possible, update a picture a day - possibly when im at school theyll be taken with my actual camera, but as in most cases when im home - i dont have my camera with me because im typically at work or at home. so for now - ill try to take a picture a day with my phone and post it on here as a sort of book mark in a way of a definitive - i was here at some point today - this is what i saw as both a visual reminder for myself of the days events and also a breadcrumb of sorts that eventually i can retrace my steps, because lets face it - memories fade pretty damn quickly or atleast get alot fuzzier.

so with that said...

some people just have it

this will be brief (i think). today has been an interesting day. no work. 21 gun salute. and breakfast at 2 pm with alot of family.

im not going to get into much but i just felt like posting.

its a beautiful day outside and its looking like it might stay that way for a while. i head to the shore for a few days at the end of this week. looking forward to it - if it was for a whle week i may feel differently, but itll be nice for a couple of days.

not sure how many people read this, and of them - how many are familiar with the band Good Old War, but if there was ever a band who it was just obvious that they need no studio production, no mic levels, nothin professional at all to sound great together it is this band. i really envy their ability to just click together so smoothly. anyway - they have been working on a new album and this video i am going to try to embed is of them playing one of those songs - theres acutally a video of them doing it in a studio but i think this one of them in a backyard sounding perfect together being picked up by only the mic on the camera is more complementary.

enjoy:

a good puzzle

dreams man - they can be great, they can be exciting, they can be horrible. luckily, in a way, i dont have/remember my dreams too often and i mean months at a time. lately though its been a few times a week and im kinda hoping it stops soon because theyr gonna give me an anxiety attack - theyr not like nightmares or anything but theyr not pleasant - thats for sure.

one week till vacation (sort of). as much as i like being home - im absolutely ready to be living in NY.

wrote a response to a prompt on soulpancake the other day. haven't decided if i want to post it yet. i like what i came up with but i just don't know who else will care.

somehow i lower my standards of entertainment when im home. home not meaning versus like out somewhere or at school but if im gonna watch tv or a movie at home im much less inclined to choose something great. maybe its because its free but at home ill watch august rush or definitely maybe. and ill watch the whole thing from start to finish and totally get wrapped up in it and its not that i think that they're great or anything but i just get absorbed in these movies. maybe its great (maybe it means im not as snobby as ive been credited to be). what i know is that its severely absorbing my free time. luckily today i was able to not ge sucked into another movie post phillies game and sit outback and get in a good amount of reading.

and thats all for now.

milkshakes are yum

So one problem I've found with making milkshakes in regular blenders and not milkshake makers is that in order to get the blender to churn it all up you really have to over compensate on the milk factor. What you end up getting is the equivalent of a Webster's Milkshake thats been delivered - thick milk.

To combat this- and to make your home made milkshake taste a bit more like a wendy's frosty..the thing to do is add ice. You gotta blend it up more - causes you to need to blend, stop, open the lid, stir/shake, repeat...but you end up getting a milkshake/frosty and not thick milk. totally worth it.

anyway - its hot in my house and so thats how i spent my night.

peace

hard to keep up

my plan of writing more brief but more frequent posts is backfiring. i have taken a week to post since my last one. its not that i have nothing to update - but i just dont always feel like writing a post either. oye

saw a few movies. public enemies was alright - may have been real good. definitely well written and acted. something jsut felt off. glad i saw it though. saw danny boyle's millions. kids movie but not a kids movie at the same time. more a movie told from a kid's perspective or with a kid as the main character. it was really great - definitely reccomend.

saw duncan jones' moon. really impressed. need to get clint mansell's score. he is a force when it comes to music composition.

watching eagle eye now. its a bit more than half way through and i havent figure out why it was so poorly rated. its not brilliant or new but its not bad - atleast not so far. definitely has held my attention in a suspense/where is this going way.

harry potter - wednesday. its been a long time coming - so excited. looking to be a beautiful week. see you soon.

how long can you wait to deposit a check from work?

i dont know if its laziness or what but as long as i remember working ive never felt a desire to go to the bank when i have a check in my hand. case and point - despite the fact that i work two jobs because i need to make all the cash i can to keep my head afloat i have two checks from my weekend job sitting in the glove compartment of my car. one is going on 3 weeks old.

spent the weekend at my apt in NY. jenny lewis + battery park = a blissful 4th ending in a not so shabby rendition of her acid tongue on the floor of 2491 belmont ave. all in all id say i couldnt have asked for more this weekend. evn made it home in time for some BBQ-ing.

i have more to say but i promised myself id try to get to be earlier. hopefully this will prompt another post - keeping the consistency of this blog up.

cheers.
