Risk.
There is no other game like it - it says so on the box. Then again the version we are playing is from 1960 - so that may no longer be true. What is true is that Risk is a game that will bring the competitive out of everyone and most likely end in hysteria or someone calling it quits - reaching an actual end to the game is unlikely. Maybe that is also because we had some rules backwards making it more of a defensive game than an offensive one. Anyway out, it is frozen in time, put in another room to be continued another day - we were all growing tired of it but too stubborn to give up and put it away.
