Forming An Idea: A restrospective

I am not actually going to write about all the times I have had new ideas on this blog. I am writing about my newest idea which is a form of a restrospective. I didn't think of it until today and so it is continuing to take shape. The essential idea is to have friends record themselves (audio or video is still in question) discussing a favorite moment in college, a favorite moment having to do with the city, and a favorite place in the city. At then end I would take the clips and put them together by question and mix in footage and pictures of the campus or the city and add some music. The end result would be some personal reflections by all of our friends looking back at what stands out to them over these four years.

I don't know how it will turn out, or exactly how it will be brought together, but thats the basis of my idea. I need to run it by a few more people to get feedback and give people time to prep what they might talk about. It could turn into something really cool, and that is what I am hoping for. I guess we shall see.

New Blog!

No, I don't mean new entry. I have created a new blog here. I am not abandoning this blog. I just felt that separating my 'Fordham Moments' entries from my regular blogging made sense. I don't intend to slow down on this site, although posts other than my BREADCRUMBS may be more rare. I will do my best to keep up with both.

Thanks for reading!

No Shoes

Today, Toms Shoes, a company known for the conrtibution to developing countries, hosted an national day without shoes. To promote awareness, people today went without shoes regardless of where they went.

Even though it is not the safest, or cleanest place, I braved the Bronx and went barefoot most of the day. I had to wear shoes to work this morning, but from 1 pm on, it was bare feet.

I was a bit worried about the grass, but all in all I was unencumbered by the lack of footwear. My only run-in was at TD Bank where the ATM was closed, and I was not allowed into the main bank. I was allowed in the coffee shop, and the laundromat, however.

It was a cool event, and enough people asked that I felt like it mattered.

I hope that I can keep up on my new idea. Recently, after flipping through my Facebook photos I started reflecting back on my college years and some of my fondest memories. I started wondering what some of the best times were and mentally began scanning my college career. This along with a friend of mine's idea to make it his newest blog project has made me want to do something similar.

I won't be make a top 10 list, or discussing major events throughout college. Instead I am going to use this space, maybe for awhile, maybe every couple of days, to reflect on single moments that stand out in my years here. I hope it doesn't bore anyone.

New Ideas

I had an idea today for a new blog. I don't plan on ending this one, but the new blog would be more of a project. This new idea, however, will probably end up in the 'idea' pile I have which exceeds the 'accomplished' infinitely.

I also did some reading about the MTA today. I was curious about abandoned subway stations after seeing one used in the plot of a show. I found out there are several ranging from entire stations either closed or never used after being built, to lower or upper levels closed off from a station. It seems as though this was an area a Columbia student focused on as there is a site hosted on Columbia's servers detailing all of these stations, some with pictures.

This led me to find out how many subway stations there are in the New York area. How many do you think it is? I was surprised myself to find out there are 468 functioning subways stations. Crazy.

breadcrumbs

so i thought itd be a good idea, and maybe that's relative, to try something with this blog in addition to my regular updates. maybe this is for me, maybe its for both of us but i thought about this as kind of a development from some other blogs i check regularly.

the idea is to try to, if possible, update a picture a day - possibly when im at school theyll be taken with my actual camera, but as in most cases when im home - i dont have my camera with me because im typically at work or at home. so for now - ill try to take a picture a day with my phone and post it on here as a sort of book mark in a way of a definitive - i was here at some point today - this is what i saw as both a visual reminder for myself of the days events and also a breadcrumb of sorts that eventually i can retrace my steps, because lets face it - memories fade pretty damn quickly or atleast get alot fuzzier.

so with that said...
