a love for the hard copy

i really think there is something to the hard copy of things. That being said - iTunes 9 just included LP mode which is more interactive and expansive on the digital album art work. And while it may be a very exciting and cool feature for a band's art i would rather have the physical casing. - which is one of the reasons why i will purchase an album i really want to support or have the actual copy of.

It is not often that I buy an album but sometimes I do, whether it is to support a band I really like, or maybe because it comes with a DVD or what ever reason. Today I decided I wanted to support Thrice by buying Beggars. They got screwed when their album (like Wolverine's movie) leaked onto the internet way in advance. They were forced to move up the digital release of the album to a week later on iTunes so as to not totally be in the hole from this. Today the album was released on hard copy and through both sympathy over the shitty situation and wanting to monitarily support a band who has plenty of releases, most of which I have, but none of which I have actually bought. - so this wasnt so much of wanting the copy for its art or anything as much as supporting the band monetarily and also benefiting from the 5 bonus songs you could attain through the hard copy.

I also bought Muse's The Resistance out of curiousity

But in regards to my point at the top - I bought Portugal. The Man's Satanic Satanist (which came out a little while ago).

The winner goes to the latter of the purchases. Not to comment on quality of the music on the three albums but on worthiness of a hard copy. I have never seen an album packaging/art as extravagant as this one. It is really awesome and totally worth every penny even if the cd was not good (which is not the case at all). The design of this case is something that, depisite getting the same art through iTunes, the presentation would be lost.

Tomorrow I will see H2 (if all goes according to plan) and finish the night with our first Intramural Soccer match. I am so out of shape and will be sore for a week (just in time for the next match) from it but I am so glad we got this to happen. It will be a lot of fun.
