Picture Perfect (More Like A Painting)

Tonight I went to the preseason game for the Eagles who were playing the Jets. As it was week 4 and no starters even took the field, there is little to comment on. It was nice to be back at the stadium and I cannot wait until next week.

Shortly after the game started I went to snap a picture of the field to post tonight. I posted a picture of the first game I went to last year as well. Over my shoulder I saw the sunset out of the corner of the stadium and it just looked amazing. Similar to the scene in Vanilla Sky where the sky is so surreal it stands out like it has been painted and not natural, so too was this sky.

The Eagles season officially begins tomorrow. So. Freakin. Excited.

Ouch

Well I knew Dallas was the favorite going into tonight but I did not see it going the way it did. Turning point - the overturned interception early in the first half. Never really did anything after that.

In other news - pulling for the pack tomorrow!

Board games are ice breakers

Put a group of people together who know some but not everyone in the room and ask them to socialize. I guarantee you that same group of people will be bonded and having more fun 10x faster if you have them play a vocal board game. Take tonight for example - two groups of friends who through apples to apples - a few hours later would appear as if they had known each other and spent time together.

It definitely helps when it is a fun game. Apples to Apples in a large group is definitely just that.

Early morning for breakfast tomorrow. Early is relative though - Ill be getting almost 4 more hours of sleep versus if I would be getting up for work tomorrow.

End of the Regular Season

Well, for home games at least - NFL 2009 has come to an end. And it was ugly today - some blowouts (NE, GB) and some upsets (IN, NO) and the sloppy 2nd half that was the Eagles game.

All in all though - ever team above is going to the playoffs and that is great (except for NE).

In other news - this could be a movie packed week. I was considering, earlier, making tonight's post my top 10 movies of the year. But then I realized that I might be seeing 3 movies this week that could all be in contention. If nothing is going on tomorrow night I am going to go see Up in the Air. Wednesday - Avatar. And as I thought about it - if I am going to be in NY for new years - maybe I could try to find a theatre playing The Imaginarium of Dr. Parnassus while in town.

So - my top 10 of the year list is being put on hold in hopes that some of these movies make their way on there - not that the ones I have seen are bad but I am hoping these movies all live up to hype.

The Rain Won't Stop Us

And it didn't. Today was a great day, after a great weekend. When I woke up today I didn't think I had enough energy in me to get through the day. Last night's party was a lot of work. It is not easy to have a 25 person party in your apartment - the organizing and prep work, cooking ,etc. Luckily everyone was awesome. I had a lot of help from Claire (especially as the party wrapped up.)

When all was said and done things could not have gone better. We had so much extra food and for an apartment that has been ordering/buying every meal out of having no time to go food shopping - that's nice. Having 10 of your best friends dancing around your room with christmas music playing - everyone doing their best charlie brown moves and such is just amazing. Ill have some pictures soon.

Today we had our gift exchange and I was really impressed at how creative, thoughtful, or interesting the gifts were. Headed into the city while some friends and my roommates lunched on some of the left overs. Met up with my sisters and grabbed food at Max Brenners. If you have not been there - you should change that. Order everything.

Made it Rockefeller with them and Alex and took some pictures with the tree despite the rain. Also, a brave male proposed on the ice. He must really have had a good feeling about that one to subject his future wife to the cold rain for it. There must have been a good inch or more of water on the ice that he knelt in, too. It was great - everyone watching cheered. What it must feel like to get engaged in that setting or any where you have a slew of people applauding/cheering for you.

We finally headed home on the 7 pm bus following the eagles game via gamecast, car radio, and then tv when I got home.

Tomorrow is my dad's birthday. He turns 51. This is why i am home. It is also why, in a few hours I am waking up to make him pancakes. He doesn't know this. Nor did he know I was coming home tonight. If you know me, you know I like surprises/big gestures. So I sneak home, show up - and make him an actual meal to eat before he heads to work on his birthday before most of the world is even awake.

another celebration

a little while ago i celebrated my 100th blog post, and today I have reached another blogging landmark. today is the 100th post for my breadcrumb project. back in july i decided to start making a post once a day of a picture that in some way related to the days events whether it was something i had done, somewhere i had been, something i had seen, etc. Today marks the 100th 'breadcrumb'.
Recently I realized that I would be coming up on this post and decided to figure out both when it would be, and to see some of my past posts by starting from the beginning and looking through them. I realized that somehow the quarterly posts all, by chance, happened to be noteworthy pictures or events.

Picture 100 then was pressured because after realizing these pictures happened to coincide with those posts I thought about what I could have as my 100th picture while still wanting to not plan it out. Ultimately I decided not to plan it and see what I came across today. I took and am posting this picture because while it may seem mundane it has significance. This captures the final roster for my final semester at Fordham. Having registered this morning, I felt like it made sense to use this as my 100th image. How did we get to be choosing our final 4 or 5 (or less if you are that ahead) classes of our college careers already?

we won the wrong one. id like to say that im a bigger football fan than baseball fan and so its ok, or it doesnt matter, but tonight was heartbreaking. lets make sure there is at least a game 6, shall we?

theres no place like home

no matter how bad we might play or how bad we might lose there is just something about being at that stadium that is just awesome - whether everyone is cheering, silent in tension, or booing a fellow eagle who we will probably cheer for 2 minutes later.

so yeah - todays game fell apart but it was still awesome to be back there. heres to a great season!
